Brickett Allis learned after the mayoral primary that being an independent thinker doesn’t pay off in politics. That’s why in his campaign he hasn’t promised everyone a rose garden. He promises he will work with conviction and integrity.
He doesn’t speak in clichés and slogans. He speaks with heart and honesty. He speaks from nearly two decades of continuous experience in Greenfield’s government.
During the mayoral debates, he didn’t have to read answers other people wrote for him. This is because he knows what he is talking about and what he is talking about is the result of years of experience and hard work.
It’s expected nowadays for politicians to have an inner circle of people who tell them what to do. The inner circle makes decisions and cuts deals in secret. Some politicians can think independently from their inner circle. Some cannot tie their shoes without asking for permission. We might not like politicians having secret advisors, but we accept it as an unfortunate fact of life.
Luckily Brickett Allis is not a politician, he is a public servant and does not have behind the scenes people telling him what to do. His inner circle is the 17,500 residents of Greenfield, Massachusetts.
Please write in Brickett Allis, 300 Wells St., for mayor on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Because it’s time to shut down the back room and open up the front office.
