Sheila Gilmour is my choice for the next mayor of Greenfield for several reasons.
Here are a few of them:
Sheila is concerned with the long-term well-being of our people and town, which includes an awareness of the impact of climate change on all of us. Her focus is on economic development that is environmentally responsible and sustainable.
Sheila listens and includes others in decision-making, valuing collaborative approaches that includes all voices.
Sheila has experience in working with others, in making difficult decisions, and in standing strong for the right thing through her experiences in the military and through her union work.
Sheila supports unions and workers, knowing that good paying jobs and benefits supports families and communities.
Sheila supports our schools and in making investments in our town that attract businesses and families to settle her and to stay here.
Sheila has pledged to have a transparent administrative approach that will involve department heads and other relevant parties in budget discussions from the beginning of the process. She believes that having people work together for the good of all is better than pitting each department against each other. She will also involve the public in budget discussions, to listen to what we want and value.
Sheila strongly supports the building of a new library as an economically responsible approach to serving the children and families of Greenfield for the present and the future.
Sheila’s work on the city council has demonstrated her ability to work with others, even those with whom she disagrees, with a focus on what is best for the town.
I hope you will join me in voting for Sheila Gilmour (and the new library) on Nov. 5.
