The Franklin County Hockey Association is hosting a Try Hockey for Free event on Saturday, Nov. 9, beginning at 10:40 a.m. at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.
FCHA is one of over 400 youth hockey associations nationwide hosting the event in conjunction with USA Hockey.
Equipment will be provided and the event is free for kids age 4-11. The session is led by FCHA volunteer coahces who are certified through USA Hockey. To register, go to www.fcha.org or www.tryhockeyforfree.com.

Shelburne Bowling
Ben Dodge and Colleen Barrows had it going in the Thursday Night League at the Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley, Dodge having the men’s high single (134) and triple (336) score, and Barrows having the women’s high single (115) and triple (331) score.
Scott Schneider and Kendall Schneider rolled the high single score of 109 in the Sunday Scotch Doubles while Betty Schneider and Bill Schneider had the high triple score of 284.
In the Monday Night League, Earl Carlow had the men’s high single score (124) and Chris Rice rolled the men’s high triple score of 340.
Lisa Taylor finished with the women’s high single of 111 and Karen Herzog’s score of 300 was the women’s high triple.
Dave Coburn and John Rodgers tied for the high single score of 128 in the Tuesday Men’s League, while Rodgers had the high triple score of 358.
John Herron dominated the Wednesday Night League, rolling the men’s high single score (119) and triple score (320).
Angie Clark rolled a 111 which was good for the women’s high single score and Marilyn Wilson had the women’s high triple score with a 305.
Mahar Regional
Natalie Apteker’s goal put the Mahar Regional girls junior varsity soccer team ahead for good in a 3-0 win over Gateway Regional on Wednesday at the Woodward Complex in Orange.
Mary Simon and Logan Burke also scored for the Senators.
Trinity Doane and Cassidy Boutell had assists.
Sara Simon and Baylee Rousseau shared time in net and combined for two saves.
