LEYDEN — Rep. Paul Mark, D-Peru, and Sen. Jo Comerford, D-Northampton, will be at Leyden Town Hall on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the town’s second annual Pie Baking Contest.
NORTHFIELD — Author Robert Tougias will be at the Dickinson Memorial Library to discuss a perennial local question: Are there cougars in the Northeast?
Tougias will present new information to add to the account from his detailed 2011 book, “The Quest for the Eastern Cougar: Extinction or Survival?” The event, held Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.
Tougias has a degree in natural resources from the University of Massachusetts, is a regular contributor of nature articles to regional newspapers, and his work on cougars has been published in the peer-reviewed Proceedings of the Easter Cougar Conference.
BERNARDSTON — A Narcan training workshop from Tapestry Health will be held Monday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cushman Library.
Library staff will be trained ahead of the community workshop, according to a library press release. Anyone who participates in the training will be provided with a dose of Narcan to take with them.
