In Saturday’s editorial, Brickett Allis was cited as a viable candidate because he lost by only 54 votes in the preliminary election. Another way to look at the results: the “progressive” candidates took in over two-thirds of the vote at 2247, while the “conservative” candidate got 957. In this equation, Brickett lost by 1290 votes. As a progressive voter, I was looking forward to a more nuanced, specific, and dynamic debate between the winning candidates. With Brickett in the mix, I worry that won’t happen.
