Mad Agnes, a musical group that stopped performing in 2011, will return this weekend for a one-day concert at the 1794 Meetinghouse this weekend. Margo Hennebach, Adrienne Jones and Mark Saunders will bring the sculpted harmonies and compelling songwriting for which they are known.
The concert will be held Saturday. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Hennebach (piano, guitar, vocals), Jones (guitar, vocals) and Saunders (mandolin, guitar, vocals) have a long musical history together, performing across the U.S. and overseas. Individually and collectively they’ve recorded 12 albums and a DVD.
Pete Nelson, who will play an opening set for the act, is an author, a Signature Sounds’ recording aritist and a long-time resident of the Pioneer Valley.
“On Nelson’s debut album, The Restless Boys’ Club, fundamental conventions of popular music are regularly tossed aside if they don’t suit the narrative. In the liner notes, his lyrics are printed in prose format with complete sentences, paragraphs, and quotation marks. Nelson has a great gift for quietly underscoring the poignant depth of ordinary events in ordinary lives.” — Evan Cater, All Music Guide
