NORTHFIELD — The town clerk’s office will be closed from Thursday, Sept. 26, until Monday, Oct. 7.
NORTHFIELD — Author and poet Judy Wells will discuss her book “Dear Phebe: The Dickinson Sisters Go West” at the Dickinson Memorial Library, where she conducted research for the book. Her talk will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Wells grew up with family lore hinting that she might be related to Amherst poet Emily Dickinson. As an adult, Wells set out to learn about her Massachusetts ancestors, discovering a trove of letters that revealed her ancestry. She will revisit Dickinson Memorial Library to share the fascinating story of her quest.
Wells is a poet and author of 11 books of poetry. Autographed copies of her book will be available for sale. The event is co-sponsored by the Northfield Historical Society.
BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Marine Corps League will hold a Veteran’s Resource Fair on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. The event will take place at the Vets Club, 14 Hartwell St.
BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Vets Club, at 14 Hartwell St., is holding a benefit motorcycle ride and chicken barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The ride will start at the club at 10 a.m., followed by the barbecue with live music and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets cost $10 each or two for $15.
