While Greenfield City Councilor Vern Sund states that he was opposed to the safe city ordinance because he has learned that a recent federal appeals court ruling would. deny benefits to veterans. A review of that court’s recent ruling regarding sanctuary cities, reveals that the court has upheld the Justice Department’s decision not to give grants to such cities. These grants are for the purpose of apprehending illegal aliens and nowhere does it state anything about veteran’s benefits. Perhaps he can enlighten us as to the name of the case he is referring to so we can verify his claim.
