The Athol High School girls soccer team scored 30 seconds into the game and didn’t look back, topping Mohawk Trail, 7-0, in an independent match played Tuesday in Athol.
Ally Raymond scored a hat trick for the Red Raiders, with all three goals coming in the first half.
“She really had a good game,” Athol coach Tim Cleveland said of Raymond. “She was a lot faster than their backfield and was able to get behind them every single time for one-on-ones.”
In the second half, the Red Raiders continued their scoring barrage, as Kendall Deleo, Geca Baptista, Rozlyn Nelson and Hannah York all got in on the goal-scoring action.
“We were able to get behind them,” Cleveland said. “We tried to control the pace and not go crazy but it was tough not to put the ball in the net.”
Lillian VanVleet made seven saves in net for Mohawk Trail.
Lee 6, Greenfield 3 — The Green Wave ventured to the Berkshires and dropped an independent contest in Lee.
Greenfield goalie Dina Samake had to leave the match early after suffering an injury in pregame warmups. Hannah Poirier stepped in and made five saves for the visitors, which lost for the first time this season (3-1 overall).
Victoria Marin, Tina Reed and Emma Savoy found the net for Greenfield.
Palmer 3, Frontier 2 – A late goal by the host Panthers handed the Red Hawks a road loss in the independent match played Tuesday under the lights.
Samantha Scanlon scored with an assist coming from Natalie Denkiewicz late in the match before Palmer’s equalizer.
Victoria Speth scored in the first half on a penalty kick for Frontier. Goalkeeper Siomara Green made seven saves.

Frontier scored four first-half goals en route to a convincing 4-0 victory over East Longmeadow in a Valley League game played in South Deerfield.
Emily DeMaio scored a pair of goals, with Alyson Barnes and Olivia Vecellio each picking up a goal.
Vecellio, Rebecca Wallace-West and Emily Roberts notched assists in the win.
“We came out early and got a couple quick goals,” Red Hawks coach Missy Mahar said. “We settled in nicely from there. It was a good team win.”
Having the early lead, Mahar was able to spell Skyla Burniske in goal and get her backups some reps, with Brooke Flanders making a save and Amanda Fuller coming up with a trio of stops.
Hawks get back into
win column
Big offensive nights from Olivia Deane and Jalen Sullivan propelled the Frontier volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Ludlow on Tuesday night.
On the road, the Red Hawks picked up a 25-19, 25-14, 25-23 victory in an independent match.
Deane’s 14 kills paced the offensive effort for Frontier (4-2), and Sullivan joined her in double figures with 10 kills. The duo combined for 16 digs on the defensive end.
Setters Olivia Rosewarne (19 assists) and Sydney Scanlon (10 assists) set the table. Charlotte Doulette added four kills, while libero Reilly Isler led the back row with 15 digs and Abbe Roberts registered six.

Hawks take five of six
Mikey Corduff and Gunnar Moore each shot a match-low 36 to lead Frontier past South Hadley, 15-9, in an independent match played at the Cherry Hill Golf Course in Amherst.
“They hit some good shots out there, both teams did,” Frontier coach Bill Fitzpatrick said. “Gunnar played strong, strung together some birdies.”
Porter Clancy narrowly won his match in the No. 4 spot with a 44, while Bryan Baumann shot a 40 to win the No. 5 match and Rowan Blair shot a 47 to win in the No. 6 spot.
Kyle Maynard shot a 42 in the No. 2 spot, but it wasn’t enough to top South Hadley’s Logan Waite, who shot a 40.
Athol, Hopkins draw
Athol and Hopkins scored goals within two minutes of each other in the first half, and that wound up being the only scoring in the contest as the teams fought to a 1-1 draw in a Schmid Division game played Tuesday in Hadley.
Dilan Fountain scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute, but two minutes later, Hopkins answered after Athol mishandled a pass back to the goalie. That led to Jared Venditti chipping the ball into the back of the net to knot the game up.
Casey Mason made 20 saves in net to preserve the tie.
Chicopee Comp 3, Frontier Regional 1 — The Red Hawks fell behind in the first half and lost on the road against the Colts in a Moriarty League contest, Tuesday.
