GREENFIELD — The Center for New Americans has consolidated its classes into one location — Suite 270 at 278 Main St.
The center, which has been offering free classes in English for speakers of other languages for 27 years, was holding classes on Federal Street, as well as in Turners Falls during the evening.
Executive Director Laurie Millman said the center held evening classes in Turners Falls after requests from prospective students, but because some Greenfield residents had to commute and some Turners Falls residents decided to take classes held in Greenfield, it made sense to consolidate and hold them all in one place.
Along with the free English classes, the center offers free certified nurse aide training, on-site child care for very young children of students while they attend classes, career guidance and support, information and referrals to community resources and immigration legal services.
Millman said the center also offers citizenship services. It has program sites in Greenfield, Amherst and Northampton.
