NORTHFIELD — Steve Seredynski is the new chair of the Planning Board, following Richard Fitzgerald’s resignation from the board.

Fitzgerald served on the Planning Board for eight years and submitted a letter of resignation, effective immediately, on Aug. 19.

“I want to thank the town for their support and participation over the years,” Fitzgerald said recently. “My workload outside of the board has increased quite a bit and I don’t feel I will be able to give the appropriate amount of time to Planning Board issues.”

Following his resignation, the Planning Board met to reorganize last week, appointing Seredynski as the new chair.

According to Town Administrator Andrea Llamas, the Selectboard can appoint a new member to the Planning Board, which has room for five members but currently has four. The new member would serve on the board until the next election in May 2019.

“They haven’t discussed that yet, but they have the opportunity to put someone on the board,” Llamas said.

The Planning Board will meet on Thursday at 6 p.m. to discuss the proposed Pierson Road campground as a board, to assess the information it has been presented so far and to determine what questions remain.

There will be no open discussion on the proposed campground during next week’s meeting. The board has scheduled a continuation of the public hearing for Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m.
