On Sept. 10 I will be voting for Sheila Gilmore for mayor. I attend many town council meetings and have been very impressed with Sheila since she became the councilor for precinct 6 . Her calm presence and demeanor and her ability to listen and process information and make informed decisions based on facts and not misinformation are qualities that will enable her to bring positive and needed change to Greenfield as our next mayor.
She has a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration as well as experience in labor relations and she is not afraid to tackle complicated issues.
As a parent with two children in the Greenfield public schools, she is dedicated to equitably funding our schools and has worked to keep the cap on charter schools, keeping our tax dollars in public schools so as to ensure financial transparency and community oversight.
Her experience of living in poverty as a young woman brings a level of knowledge and compassion for the experiences of our homeless population and all those who are struggling to make ends meet, and those experiences, along with her educational background, will be an asset in addressing the issues we are facing as a community — including needed services for our most vulnerable population, tackling affordable housing, affordable health care, climate change and protecting our environment, taxes and the budget, and finding ways to strengthen our economy. She has been involved in many of these issues already and her progressive and forward thinking on next steps are much needed. You can go to her website at www.sheilaforgreenfield.com for more details and I hope you will vote for Sheila on Sept. 10.
