The Frontier Regional School girls’ volleyball team opened its season with a trip to Cape Cod and Nantucket over the weekend and came away with its first victory of the year with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-23 defeat of Nantucket High School on Sunday.
Charlotte Doulette led the Red Hawks with six kills from the middle position, while Olivia Deane had five kills from the outside.
Jalen Sullivan added four kills as an outside hitter, Morgan Martineau had three kills from the opposite position and Olivia Simoneaux had a kill herself.
Olivia Rosewarne led the way with 11 assists, while Sydney Scanlon added five and Elise Friedrichs had two assists herself.
Defensively, Reilly Isler led the charge with six digs.
The match counted as a regular season match, but because Nantucket is an exclusion school, the win will not count towards Frontier’s tournament qualification. Frontier spent Saturday playing in a preseason jamboree at Barnstable High School before facing Nantucket on Sunday.
“It’s been a great weekend of volleyball, it’s been a great trip,” Frontier coach Sean MacDonald said. “Part of it is volleyball, part of it is team-building. Getting the new kids to bond with the old kids. This weekend was just awesome.”
