We have known Brickett since his infancy. He was always a bright, high-energy kid, evolving into a dedicated and hard-working young man eager to serve the town he loves. Probably his eagerness to serve Greenfield was fostered in part by the influence of his family of origin. I remember his grandfather, John Brickett, helping to make Greenfield a safer place by fulfilling his duties as Greenfield health inspector. John was a great role model for his namesake.
As a businessman himself, Brickett is keenly aware of the need for fiscal responsibility to guide decision-making regarding city projects. He identifies strongly with the taxpayers who view each new real estate tax bill with some apprehension. Brickett wants every tax dollar to be spent with wisdom and careful oversight. For that reason, he has studied every spending proposal carefully, and has done many hours of careful research on all the related issues. For those who heard Brickett on the Greenfield TV candidate forum, it was obvious that he is a thoughtful, informed, and conscientious man.
While Brickett has great compassion for our hungry or homeless neighbors, and for our warming planet, he refrains from tunnel-vision focus on problems larger than what Greenfield town officials can solve. His focus is on finding ways to make Greenfield retain its reputation as a great place to live and to raise a family.
We are proud to know Brickett, and we will happily support his candidacy for the position of mayor.
