While standing on the Common, I see signs saying: “God Loves All the Children of the World; Families Seeking Safety, Deserve Compassion; End Family Separation; and Close Camps!” Signs or action? Is it possible to set up a GoFundMe account, for a Guatemalan Sanctuary, to protect all those deported children?
Deportations: Less than 10 percent of the Guatemalans will be granted asylum, so Americans must create a Biblical-style Sanctuary near La Democratia, Guatemala. Politics! Why not provide a Safe Haven, plus food, shelter, and clothing in their own homes in Guatemala, under the direction of the Peace Corps, Inter-National Law and the United Nations!
In his parable, Jesus emphasizes hospitality, by referring to himself as though he was a pauper. Matthew 25: “Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared from the Foundation, for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me.” Jesus exhorted, “I tell you the truth, whatever yo did for the least of these (Guatemalan Children) you did for me.”
Truth? Are Christians required to treat widows, paupers, and strangers/immigrants and their children with hospitality, providing food, clothing and shelter? Are those Biblical demands still God’s Law? The world is watching America! Are ministers preaching Jesus’ message about hospitality and exhorting their congregations concerning all those deported children and the necessity for providing Biblical Sanctuary Cities in Guatemala?
La Democratia Crisis! Most of the people from Guatemala are being deported, so American generosity must create safe sanctuaries, for children. After providing military protection under international law, those children can live with their own families, go to school, and someday, perhaps, visit America. “Let justice (hospitality and international law) roll like a mighty river, righteousness as a mighty stream.” Amos 5:24.
