Bill Dowd of Amherst hit his seventh career hole-in-one Tuesday at the Country Club of Greenfield. 

Dowd made the shot with a sand wedge on hole No. 15, with the pin 107 yards away. 

It was witnessed by Dick Howe and Donna Woodcock. 

Dowd, Howe and Woodcock took first in the Food Drive Scramble, shooting 10-under and carding a 62. 

William McDonald, Mike Larabee, Barb Killeen and Jane Plumley tied with Ernie Patnode, Scott Lyman, Linda Lively and Carla Bernier for second, with both squads shooting nine-under and carding a 63. 

• In a 3 Clubs and Putter game in the 9 Hole Women’s League at the Country Club of Greenfield, Elaine Goodhind took first with a 45 in the Patty Berg Flight. 

Tilly Clark took second, shooting a 47. 

In the Nancy Lopez Flight, Jenna Luippold was the top scorer with a 45, followed by Ann McHugh, Woodcock and Lora Gross, who each scored a 50. 

Lori Grover took first in the Lorena Ochoa Flight with a 48, with Liz Archer taking second with a 51. 

Sally Bernard and Michelle Hazlett tied for first in the Juli Inkster Flight with scores of 50. Anne Corrinet won the Joanne Carner Flight with a score of 50, trailed by Elaine Mount and Kim French who tied for second after shooting 52’s. 

Ruth Anne Weissman and Anna Hulhut tied for the top score in the Annika Sorenstom Flight, each scoring a 58. 

Edge Hill

Mark Graves shot the top point quota (plus-5) and low net score of 32 in the A-Division in the Edge Hill Men’s League at the Edge Hill Golf Course, Tuesday. 

Lewis Goodnow shot the low gross score of 39. 

In the B-Division, Charles Duchin had the top point quota of plus-8.5 and the low net score of 30. 

Jon Sonntag and Junior Rivera tied for the low gross score, each shooting a gross 42.

Race to End Child Abuse 5K

Calling all superheroes! Many children can’t run from abuse, we dare you to move, get involved, make an impact, and change your community for the better. The 3rd annual Race to End Child Abuse 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the Children’s Advocacy Center will be Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds.

New this year, there will also be a free one-half mile race for kids. Registration and pre-registration pick up opens at 8 a.m. on race day, with the one-half mile race set for an 8:40 a.m. start. The 5K begins at 9 a.m.

The race starts at the Franklin County Fairgrounds and ends at the Children’s Advocacy Center.
