Greenfield Recorder, I respectfully disagree with your recent article about the W. River RR Museum in Newfane, VT which says, “There’s not much beyond Newfane, Vt. except farmstands and flea markets, but across from the Inn is the West River Railroad Museum — a hidden gem.”

But wait! There is more if you go north on Route 30. Next town up is Townshend. Come to Hospital Fair on Sat, Aug. 3, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and get a slice of life in small town Vermont. The fair includes a great buffet, books booth, white elephant, an auction, an arts and crafts show and sale. Also on Route 30, beyond the town center, view the Townshend Covered Bridge and explore the Stone Arch Bridges of Townshend. Eat fabulous Cobb Oven pizza on Fridays at 7:30 pm in W. Townshend — following the Farmers Market (4-7 p.m.). Visit the Pikes’ Falls Chamber Music Festival in Jamaica (the next town up); see details on-line at http://www.pikesfallschambermusicfestival.com.

We may be small, but we’re definitely living the good life up here!
