There will be a free opening reception for Annaleah Gregoire, an experimental surrealist painter and sculptor from Greenfield, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hawks and Reed Performing Arts Center in Greenfield. Gregoire draws influence from examining issues around the encroachment of technology on the natural world, according to a press statement about the exhibit. She recognizes the benefits of modern technology both in the world at large and in her art. Her work, on display through August, strives to find balance between the duality of nature and technology by utilizing techniques from ceramics and bronze casts to laser cutting and 3-D printing. Her most recent body of work utilizes traditional mediums to express reflections on the contemporary busy and dissociative lifestyle.
