GREENFIELD — Author Toby Quirk will be the special guest on Sunday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at Living Waters Assembly of God, 450 Davis St. The Rev. Quirk will speak on “The Spiritual Battle for America’s Soul.” He is a retired Assemblies of God minister who now serves as chaplain at the Chelsea Soldiers Home and serves Saugus firefighters as the fire chaplain. A 23-year Army veteran and retired pastor, Quirk’s new novel, “Proof Through the Night,” reveals the spiritual forces behind today’s chaos in America.
DEERFIELD — Sunday’s service at First Church of Deerfield will feature music from three gifted young musicians (and siblings): Blair Huang, piano, Daphne Huang, violin, and Peggy Huang, cello. The service starts at 10 a.m. and the church is at 71 Old Main Street.
HALIFAX, Vt. — The Rev. Dr. Marcia Dorey continues her review of the Old Testament story of Moses this Sunday, starting at 6 p.m. at the Halifax Union Society. Organist Merrillyn Courser will play hymns requested by those attending. The Halifax Union Society is located near the intersection of Stowe Mountain, Jacksonville Stage and Old County roads in Halifax Center. All are welcome to attend this nondenominational service.
GILL — On the fourth of July, a group of Gill residents plan to read the Declaration of Independence from the steps of the Gill Church, and ring the bell 243 times. Anyone who wishes to participate should arrive a short time before noon to get a predesignated portion of the text to read.
NORTHFIELD — Members and friends of the Trinitarian Congregational Church will participate in a Community Discernment session on Sunday, July 14, following church coffee hour. This is part of a process of discovering core values as the congregation moves toward calling a settled pastor. The discussion will be led by the Rev. Quentin Chin, interim pastor. All are welcome. HALIFAX, Vt. — The Halifax Union Society was formed in the early 1800s and has stood as a proud witness on the hill in Halifax, Vt. ever since. In 2018, a letter campaign led to donations from supporters that resulted in a complete restoration of the outside of this historic church by Momaney painters. On Saturday, July 20, all are invited to a special celebration of the renovation, with a review of the church’s history and some wonderful refreshments.
