Walk the new labyrinth: Sunday at 4

GREENFIELD — Come join us for a labyrinth walk, Sunday, June 23, at 4 p.m., on our new outdoor labyrinth on the lawn of the Episcopal Church of St. James and Andrew. Recently established in a community action, we welcome all interested walkers and we will be celebrating the solstice, the longest day in the year. If it rains, the walk will be canceled. The labyrinth can be accessed by walking to the right of the church, which is located on Federal Street.

Halifax Union Society meets Sunday

HALIFAX, Vt. — The Halifax Union Society meets on Sunday, June 23, at 6 p.m. at the church on Stowe Mountain Road in Halifax Center. The Rev. Marcia Dorey will address the Old Testament story of Moses. Organist Merrillyn Courser leads the musical parts of the service. June 29: ‘Astrology, Magic and Esoterica in the Jewish Tradition’

GREENFIELD — All are invited to Temple Israel (27 Pierce St.) on Saturday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m., for a class on “Astrology, Magic and Esoterica in the Jewish Tradition.” Rabbis Rhonda Shapiro-Rieser and Andrea Cohen Kiener will share information about folk wisdom and mysticism in the rabbinic tradition. June 30: Special guest, author Rev. Toby Quirk, at Living Waters

GREENFIELD — Author Toby Quirk will be the special guest on Sunday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at Living Waters Assembly of God, 450 Davis St. Rev. Quirk will speak on “The Spiritual Battle for America’s Soul.” He is a retired Assemblies of God minister who now serves as chaplain at the Chelsea Soldiers Home and serves Saugus firefighters as the fire chaplain. A 23-year Army veteran and retired pastor, Quirk’s new novel, “Proof Through the Night,” reveals the spiritual forces behind today’s chaos in America.

Gill Church to host 4th of July reading

GILL — On the fourth of July, a group of Gill residents plan to read the Declaration of Independence from the steps of the Gill Church, and ring the bell 243 times. Anyone who wishes to participate should arrive a short time before noon to get a predesignated portion of the text to read.
