Deerfield Valley Art Association’s gallery on Main Street in Northfield will feature an eclectic collection of art in diverse media from traditional animal portraiture to folk art, fabric art, mixed media and recycled metal sculpture this month and the next.
Curators say the exhibit has something of interest for everyone. Farm animals, pets, wild birds and mammals, sea creatures, insects and mythical, monstrous creatures will be represented. A reception will be held Sunday, June 23 from 1 to 3 p.m., with music by The Farley String Band. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will be present at the reception with information about dog adoptions. Donations for the dog rescue will be accepted. A wish list for the rescue can be found at bit.ly/2MT7neb.
Items purchased from the wish list can be given at the gallery showing.
Special events will be planned during the exhibit including visiting animals, including alpacas and miniature horses on June 29, with a rain date of June 30, from Crescendo Acres Farm in Surry, N.H., on the lawn in front of the gallery.
The art association will be collecting animal food, treats, flea and tick treatments, and toys for regional rescue organizations during the entire exhibit.
The gallery is open Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 6; and Sunday, noon to 5.
The exhibit will be up until July 28.
