Franklin Area Survival Center would like to thank all those who contributed in the recent food drives in our communities and to those who faithfully donate to the Thrift Store that helps support the Food Pantry. We were overwhelmed with your generosity in the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive this month.

A record-breaking excess of 9,000 pounds were given by the Turner’s Falls, Greenfield, Shelburne Falls and Lake Pleasant Post Offices to Center for Self Reliance in Greenfield and Franklin Area Survival Center in Turner’s Falls.

We are grateful for local corporations who donate to the Food Pantry. Consistently we receive donations from BJ’s, Stop n Shop, Cumberland Farms, Big Y and Food City. Also faithful are St. James and St. Andrew in Greenfield and Valley Life Assembly in South Deerfield. New corporate donations have come in from Trader Joes and C & S Wholesale Grocer this month.

Patrons are especially delighted for the donations of animal food from the Dog Shelter in Montague and the Dr. Funk Veterinary’s Office in Greenfield.

The Franklin Area Survival Center services 1,650 to 1,900 individuals each month and we could not provide the foods needed without the help of the kind people of our community.

Throughout the year we see new people faced with challenges and it is heart-warming to know we can help them out because of your generosity. Our Thrift Store which is open to the public provides our community with low cost alternative shopping. All proceeds help to fund the Food Pantry.

We appreciate the individuals and corporations who regularly bring donations. Each year local schools, including Amherst College, Northfield Mt. Hermon, Deerfield Academy, Brick House Teen Center, Erving Elementary School and UMass help to keep the store stocked.

We give a heartfelt thank you to all who have given!
