Mayzie Whitaker finished with three hits but none were bigger than her sixth-inning single that drove in Raia Labreux to help the Hawlemont Pumas walk-off with a 13-12 win over the Buckland-Shelburne Huskies in the Hilltown Softball League championship game Saturday at Mohawk Trail Regional High School in Buckland.

Makayla Tatro belted a pair of home runs and drove in five runs for the winners, while Megan Gabaree finished with four hits and three RBIs.

Linnea Macek struck out 12 in the circle for Buckland-Shelburne and also had three hits and three RBIs at the plate. Isabella Pettengill finished with two hits and two RBIs, and Ashleigh Billiel had three hits.

GGSL

Ella Rotkiewicz and Lexi Hawkins (one RBI) each went 4-for-4 to lead Harper’s Store to a 5-4 win over Pelletier Electric in a Greenfield Girls Softball League Lil Nipper Division game Saturday at Murphy Park in Greenfield.

Annie Cobileanschi went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win, and Raine Wonsey went 3-for-3. MakaylaCormier, Lindsey Hawkins, and Parker Walters each drove in a run.

RenGradoia, Ameliya Galbraith, and Lilly Laprade each went 3-for-3 with one RBI to pace Pelletier.

• Also SAturday, Bianca Reynolds went 5-for-5 to lead Franklin First Credit Union to a 19-8 win over Precision Driving School.

Franklin First finished 14-1 on the season. Madison Lemay and Olivia Lemay each went 4-for-4 in the win, while Kayden Viencek and Amelia Bouchard turned a double play to pace the defense.

Ainsley Martin finished 3-for-3 to pace Precision, while Kinsley Bergeron and Hayden Brechenser each had two hits.

Valley Storm results

The Valley Storm 12U softball team went 1-3 over the weekend at the Wu City Classic Softball Tournament in Woburn.

The Storm suffered a 10-2 loss to the Southern Maine River Rats on Sunday in an elimination game. MacKenzie Paulin struck out eight in four innings in the loss, while Maggie Fay struck out one in an inning. Lucia Doulette went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Anna Bucala was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Margarette Howland, Madison Liimatainen and Fay each had a hit.

• On Saturday, the Storm opened the tournament with a 10-5 loss to the Northeast Hurricanes. 

Doulette went 3-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBIs, while Paulin had two hits. Liimatainen tripled, Howland doubled, and Ashley Taylor singled. Fay drove in one run and struck out four in six innings in the circle.

• In Game 2 on Saturday, Paulin struck out nine in five innings as the Storm beat the Raiders from Concord, 13-6..

Taylor had three hits including a triple and three RBIs in the win, while Howland singled, tripled and drove in five runs. Doulette had two hits, Paulin and Liimatainen each had one hit and one RBI, and Bucala and Kylee Gamache each plated a run.

• In the third game on Saturday, Liimatainen struck out six in three innings, and Paulin struck out one in two frames but the Storm fell to Polar Crush from Nashua, N.H., 10-4.

Taylor had two hits including a triple and one RBI, while Liimatainen doubled and tripled. Paulin had a hit and two RBIs, and Howland had one hit and one RBI.

Youth baseball

Frontier championship

Cooper Whitney struck out eight and combined with closer Tegan Dexter on a four-hitter as Delta Sand & Gravel won the Frontier Cal Ripken 46/60 championship with a 11-4 win over Polish American Citizens Club Sunday at Herlihy Field in Whately.

Jake Kirschenman and Logan Fournier each scored two runs in the win, while Max Skribiski-Banack, Ben Ayotte, Tatsuya Goodrow and John Carmichael each contributed hits in the win.

PACC came out of the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament and forced a decisive second game on Sunday after earning a 7-6 victory in the opener. Michael Hioe (3-for-4) drove in Luca Lyons with the walk-off run in the victory. Lyons pitched four strong innings.

Collin West stole home to tie the game at 6-6 in the sixth for Delta. Skribiski-Banack went 2-for-3, and Goodrow had two RBIs.

Greenfield 12s roll

The Greenfield 12U baseball team went 4-0 over the weekend to punch a ticket to the championship game of the Swansey (N.H.) Baseball Tournament.

On Saturday, Jake Brook had one hit and five RBIs to lead Greenfield past Swansey, 17-0.

Brayden Thayer had two hits and three runs scored, Devin Dubee and Caleb Thomas each had a hit and two runs scored, and Braeden Tsipenyuk had a double and an RBI. Jackson Campbell had a pair of hits and Hugh Cyhowski and Brady Booska each had a hit. Campbell and Thomas combined on the mound in the three-inning victory and struck out five.

• Also Saturday, Cameron Burnett singled, doubled and scored twice as Greenfield beat Hollis, 11-0.

Ethan Quinn doubled and scored twice, and Cyhowski had a hit and an RBI. Dubee doubled, while Campbell, Booska, Thomas and Brook each had a hit. Tsipenyuk struck out four in four innings for the win.

• On Sunday, Quinn had two doubles, scored twice and knocked in a run as Greenfield beat Amherst, N.H., 8-2.

Burnett finished with a single, double, two runs scored and an RBI in the win, while Thayer, Tsipenyuk and Booska each had a hit. Cyhowski and Quinn combined to strike out eight on the mound.

• Finally, Thayer had two hits and two runs scored as Greenfield bested Claremont, 11-1.

Tsipenyuk doubled and drove in a run, and Cyhowski had a hit and an RBI. Brook finished with two hits, Campbell, Burnett, Thomas and Silas Muzzy each had one hit, and Booska struck out six.

Mickey Mantle

Jason Quinn struck out seven in five innings, and Cayden Lehtomaki struck out nine in three innings of relief but the Pioneer Stone Seals fell to Northampton, 3-2, in eight innings in the Mickey Mantle season-opener Sunday at Franklin County Technical School in Turners Falls.

Quinn doubled and drove in two runs in the loss. Jacob Quinn, Jake Dodge, Josh Brunelle and Gavin Rubio each added one hit.

Babe Ruth

Noah Uzdavinis went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to lead Turners Falls Athletic Club to a 13-11 win over Akey Insurance in a Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League game Saturday at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.

Sam Knight went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs in the win, and Chad Adams was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Mike Pierce had two hits, Luc Belhumeur doubled, and Dylan Fisher and Kaisac Yath each had one hit. Pierce struck out eight to earn the victory, while Fisher pitched one strong inning of relief to earn the save. Ben Johnston and Uzdavinis played well defensively at short and first base respectively.

Peter Loud went 2-for-3 with three runs scored for Akey’s, while Joe Boyden was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Charlie Boyden had two hits and four RBIs, and Jack de Bruyn Keps had a hit.

Mohawk League

Ashfield advanced to the Mohawk Youth League championship game with a 3-0 win over the Buckland-Shelburne Brewers over the weekend.

Logan Moore and Owen Taylor combined to strike out 16 and allowed just one hit in the win. Taylor doubled, Sammy Thompson had one hit and one RBI, and Brayden Marcoux drove in a run.

Grayson Bishop struck out five for the Brewers. Addison Loomis had one hit, and Skyler Steele made a diving catch at first for an out. Jack Phillips and Jazzy Hayes each played well at catcher.

Ashfield will face Hawlemont Friday night at 8 at Cricket Field in Buckland for the title.

• In Minor Division second round action, Xavier Fripp pitched three solid innings as the Buckland-Shelburne Braves topped Ashfield, 15-5.

Sheamus Collins had a hit and an RBI in the win, and Dakota Cusimano scored.

Levi Clark pitched three solid innings in the loss, and Cyrus Cranston tripled.

Dave Kennedy carded a 144 to win low gross during a golf tournament at the Country Club of Greenfield over the weekend.

Jack Varner won low net with a 132.

Mike Johnson won the Augusta National Flight with a 153, while Jamie Crocker was second with a 154. Pat Grogon won the Bethpage Black Flight with a 165, while Bill Fisher was second with a 166. Terry Blanchard captured the Pebble Beach Flight wiht a 156, and Phil Phillips was second with a 159. John Walker took the Royal Portrush Flight with a 168, while Matt Pitoniak was second with a 169. 

Dave Perlmutter took low net in the Augusta National Flight with a 144, and John Dempsey was second with a 145. Terry Sinclair captured low net in the Bethpage Black Flight with a 142, and Tim Gochinski was second with a 151. Jim Hawkins won low net in the Pebble Beach Flight with a 138, and Bill Young was second at 143.
