This letter is in response to the letter submitted by Noel Gomez on May 27.
First, Noel let me say that poison as defined by Websters Dictionary is “a substance that causes illness or death when taken into the body, even in small amounts.”
The number of opioid deaths as reported by the National Institute of Drug Abuse in 2017 is 17,029.
The number of marijuana deaths reported is 0. No documentation found looking at several web-sites regarding overdoses, but the website Marijuanabreak.com did say a person would have to consume 1,500 pounds of marijuana in five minutes to overdose. How they came to this formula is unknown to me, but virtually impossible by these numbers.
Another thought Noel, marijuana is grown from a seed, like a tomato, like a marigold etc., planted in the soil, nurtured from nutrients in the soil, a little water, a little sun, maybe some leftovers from the cow pasture.
Opioid is derived from chemists working for corporate America, behind closed doors, patents pending, approved by the FDA, and sold by your drug stores for profit.
While I believe that neither opioid or marijuana are a case of one size fits all, I thought I would share another person’s opinion of where I believe the real poison lies.
