MacKenzie Paulin struck out 14 in a complete-game outing, allowing just five hits to help Camelot Carpet Cleaners to an 8-2 victory over Descavich Plumbing in Greenfield Girls Softball League Ponytail Division regular-season finale action Thursday night at Murphy Park in Greenfield.

At the plate, Kelly Baird doubled and drove in a run for Camelot. Paulin and Amelia Pierce each had a hit, while Kaia Livingstone drove in a run.

Descavich received offensive contributions from Carly Blanchard (triple, RBI), Addie Rotkiewicz (double, RBI), Sophia Rotkiewicz (single), Gloria McDonald (single), and Sora Bullock (single). McDonald struck out three and Lilly Ross came on in relief and struck out eight in four shutout innings. Meghan Collins played well defensively.

• In Lil Nippers action, Rian Farrell was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and added a pair of nifty defensive plays at the plate in Franklin First Credit Union’s 10-4 win over Lundgren Honda.

Amelia Bouchard roped four hits and made several key plays at first base. Kayden Viencek had three hits and drove in two runs.

Lundgren’s Molly Ross went 3-for-3 while Norah Henry had two hits and Megan Bacigalupo added a hit. 

Tri-County League

Elena Witherell put together a monster all-around outing, helping the Northfield Cougars to an 18-2 win over Brattleboro in a Tri-County League playoff game Thursday night at Northfield Elementary School.

Witherell struck out seven in three innings in the pitching circle. At the plate, she smacked a grand slam and added a pair of singles.

Brattleboro’s Molly Bingham doubled and scored a run.

Youth baseball

Greenfield All-Stars 12U

Brady Booska doubled, drove in two runs, and struck out five in four innings of work to lift the Greenfield 12U All-Stars to a 15-2 win over Swanzey (N.H.) in the 50/70 Swanzey Tournament game played Thursday night.

Silas Muzzy (two hits, two RBIs), Caleb Thomas (two hits, two runs), Braeden Tsipenyuk (two hits, two runs), Ethan Quinn (two hits, two RBIs), Brayden Thayer (hit, three runs) and Jackson Campbell (hit, two runs) paced the offensive attack for Greenfield, which continues tournament play tonight at 6 against Keene back in Swanzey.

GMLB

Connor Livingston, Dakota Simon, Carter Berthiaume, Ethan Facey and Tucker Aldrich all had multiple hits and Pioneer Valley Tire upended Berkshire Insurance, 9-5, in a Greenfield Minor League Baseball AA Division game played Thursday at Lunt Field.

Aldrich struck out three in an inning of work. Berkshire’s Tommy Clary, JJ Bartolon, Lexi Sanieski, Topher Miller and Ryan Capen led the way with multiple hits. Jorden Welcome struck out six.

• Elsewhere, Casey Burke registered four hits, while Deshaun Carter had three hits, including a home run, to lift Lundgren Honda past Bobby C’s DJ Service, 16-15.

Bryce Zraunig, Parker Gerry and Clayton Massa each finished with three hits for Lundgren, with teammate Asa Bouchard adding two hits.

For Bobby C’s, Camden Page and Carter Malouin totaled four hits apiece and Tevaariss Hall added three hits.

• In action from Wednesday, Berthiaume and Xaviay Reynolds were both 3-for-4 as Berkshire beat Bobby C’s DJ Service, 15-9.

Carter Moulin was 4-for-5 and pitched well in the loss for Bobby C’s.

Frontier Cal Ripken

Max Skribiski-Banack totaled two hits and earned the win on the mound, as the Delta Sand & Gravel Green Goats moved into the finals of the Frontier Cal Ripken 46/60 playoffs behind a 15-6 victory over Pekarski in a game played Thursday night.

Cooper Whitney and Austin D’Urso had three hits apiece for Delta, while Colin West was 2-for-2 with a triple. Tegan Dexter added a pair of hits in the win.

Pekarski’s Garrett Dredge was 2-for-2 and tossed three strong innings on the mound.

Golf

CFC Men’s

Shane Powell and Scott Dorval tied for the top spot in the Blue Tee Division with plus-7 quotas during Thursday’s Crumpin-Fox Club’s Men’s Quota League.

David Donoghue was closest to the pin on No. 3 (7-4) and Jason German was closest on No. 9 (10-5).

In Gold Tee Division play, Richard Degray’s plus-5 was good enough for first place. Doug Taylor was closest on No. 3 (44-2) and Peter Jenkins was closest on No. 9 (15-7).

CFC Ladies quota

The trio of Terry Boyce, Carla Bernier and Sandra Southwick finished in a three-way tie for first place with a plus-3 point quota to lead the way at Crumpin-Fox Club’s Ladies League, played Wednesday.

Kathy Browne was next at plus-1, followed by Liz Dolby and Theresa Romano who were both even.

Boyce was closest to the pin on both Nos. 11 (15-1) and 15 (13-6).

Timmons League

Rodney Ebbighausen and Pete Blake were low gross winners with a 34, besting the field in Wednesday’s Timmons League played at Northfield Golf Club.

Norm LaCoy and Jesse Putnam were next at 36. Walt Sanieski and Bob Perlman won a match of cards to take low net honors with a 28.

Closest to the pin on No. 6 was Duff Delano (32 inches), while Pete Blake was closest on No. 7 (5-8). Match medalist was shared between LaCoy and Rodney at 37, followed by Kyle Matteson with a 39.

Tennis

Greenfield Cup

The Greenfield Tennis Cup, sponsored by Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters, will be held June 17-20 at the Beacon Street Courts.

There will be separate men’s and women’s divisions, for players ages 16 and older. Singles, best-of-three set matches will start at 5:30 p.m. each night.

WMass FC tryouts

Western Mass. FC/Bayside will be holding Premier soccer tryouts for birth years 2002-2007 on Monday at Holyoke High School, Tuesday at Four Rivers Charter School in Greenfield, and Wednesday at Ellerbrook Field in Northampton.

Teams will play in the NEP. Girls tryouts are from 5:30-6:45 p.m. and boys are from 6:45-8 p.m. each night. There are also teams for birth years 2008-2012. Call 413-207-1245 for more information.

YMCA camp

The YMCA in Greenfield is offering a drop-in summer program that focuses on skill development, fun and exercise. The program is open to boys and girls in grades 8-12. The cost is quite low, $30 for the summer ($20 if you are a member of the Y) and offers air conditioning and a high-quality facility.
