GREENFIELD — The entrance ramp to Interstate 91 in Greenfield at the rotary will be closed Monday, according to Greenfield Police Department.
No one at the state Department of Transportation could be reached on the holiday to discuss why the ramp is closed, but it has been doing work at the top of the ramp for about a week.
Greenfield Police Department posted on its website: “The on-ramp to Route 91 southbound at the rotary has been closed by the state DPW. We expect this opening no earlier than Tuesday. We expect lengthy delays all Memorial Day near the rotary. Please make plans accordingly.”
Several events are happening in Greenfield this weekend, so drivers should be aware of alternate routes as they prepare to leave.
Police suggest participants of the Good Sam family rally at the Greenfield Fairgrounds on Wisdom Way consider traveling south on Deerfield Street and taking Routes 5 and 10 to the Whately entrance to I-91.
Main Street will be closed for about an hour as the city’s Memorial Day parade travels along it and other main routes, so traffic will get backed up on Bank Row if people try to leave that way.
Those attending Wormtown Music Festival at Camp Keewanee should take Silver Street to the I-91 entrance ramp on Bernardston Road.
Police said the west side of town at the Mohawk Trail will get backed up fast if everyone tries to use that route.
