HAWLEY — Voters can expect a short but sweet 16-article warrant at the Annual Town Meeting Monday.
Mostly on the table is a list of costs, including a $1 million operating budget, up from $977,194 in the current year.
Education is the town’s largest cost. In fiscal 2020, the town’s contribution for Hawlemont Regional School District costs are about $250,000 in fiscal 2020, up from 246,043 in the current year. Hawley will also weigh in on the district’s capital expenses, which total $8,860 in fiscal 2020.
Mohawk Trail Regional School District’s operating costs are $198,244 in fiscal 2020, up from $181,414. The town will also be asked to approve Mohawk’s capital costs of $5,051.
Another significant expense is the Highway Department, with fiscal 2020 costs adding up to $266,400.
The town will be asked to approve several budget items. Among them: to accept $175,120 for state road funding and to transfer $30,000 in savings or “free cash” for a fire pumper and one-ton truck.
Also on the warrant is an article that if passed, would deny, revoke or suspend any local permit if the individual fails to pay their taxes.
