Greenfield, April 30

10:48 a.m. – Caller on Green River Road reports a green double-headed parking meter with a post found on her property. Greenfield Department of Public Works reports this is not a meter belonging to Greenfield.

12:29 p.m. – Report of a hypodermic needle found in the bushes in front of Greenfield Public Library.

4 p.m. – Report of four juveniles smashing a window at Green River School and running into the woods. Estimated to be 9 to 15 years old. One described as wearing a black hoodie and a backpack.

5:56 p.m. – Reporting party reports she was picking up her niece from Forbes Court when a man got into the backseat of her vehicle and made statements about the reporting party owing him money. Reporting party advised dispatcher she has no idea what the man is talking about. Reporting party stated the man punched her in the side of the head/face. EMS was offered and declined. Reporting party reports man threatened to kill reporting party and the niece.

Montague, April 30

4:43 p.m. – Reporting party on Newton Street reports his grill was thrown approximately 50 feet into the woods two nights prior. He plans to file an insurance claim and his insurance company is requiring a police report. Reporting party advises the grill is still in the woods and is valued at approximately $400 to $500. Officer James Ruddock observed the grill over the banking. The lid was broken off and several dents were observed.

5:03 p.m. – Reporting party concerned over several small decorative rocks on a wall outside or in the vicinity of The Women’s Center at Montague Catholic Social Ministries and a daycare. Reporting party is concerned children will put the rocks in their mouths or use them as projectiles. Officer Cody Wells advised.

6:15 p.m. – Officer flagged down by passerby reporting kids hanging off the bridge at 8 Prospect St. Officer James Ruddock located the kids and advised them against the behavior.

6:38 p.m. – Report of a bear laying in the backyard of a home on High Street. Reporting party did not believe anyone was home at the time. Officer Cody Wells spoke to residents in the area and to advise them of the bear and to stay away from it. A resident called to report the bear had come down from a tree. The bear was sighted on Crocker Avenue, heading toward Scotty’s Convenience Store.

11:03 p.m. – Caller reports seeing bear on Central Street approximately 20 minutes prior, believes it is possibly headed toward Scotty’s.

Greenfield, May 1

12:15 p.m. – One person transported following a collision between gray 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and a gray 2006 Ford Fusion at the intersection of 105 Mohawk Trail and 58 Newton St.

4:37 p.m. – Report of shoplifting at The Spirit Shoppe at 402 Federal St. Unidentified man entered the store and put a bottle of vodka in his pants; stated to customer outside that he was staying at “the rehab.” Staff at detox unwilling to provide identification due to HIPAA.

2:30 p.m. – Caller reports an accident outside his house, states the two parties are arguing, but nothing physical that he observed. Caller went on to state they seemed to calm down once he told them he was calling the police. Accident involved a red 2014 Ford Fusion and a brown 2005 Ford Taurus at 86 Meridian St.

9:20 p.m. – Reporting party has a bear in her yard, stated it was in the yard last night and killed a couple of her chickens on Davenport Way.

Montague, May 1

8:17 a.m. – Reporting party on Crocker Avenue reports it appears some bears have taken down their feeders. Wondering if there has been any bear sightings in the neighborhood. No bear in the yard now.

11:03 a.m. – Reporting party on Avenue C reports bird feeder is broken and the pole it was attached to is bent. Believes there was a bear was in their yard last night. No bear in the yard now.

Greenfield, May 2

5:35 p.m. – Caller on Verde Drive reports a tent for homeless people that appeared in the lot next door to her property a few days prior, and people appear to be setting up to stay longer. Tent is not on her property but it makes her uncomfortable. Caller described the lot as abandoned. Police responded. It appears to be children building a fort. Nothing needed.

9:42 p.m. – Report of a bear wandering through yards on Davis Street.
