In Celebration of older Americans Month, the Bernardston Senior Center will host a “Malnutrition Awareness Clinic” Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Karen Lentner, R.D. from Lifepath. The clinic will discuss signs of malnutrition and how to prevent it, individual malnutrition screening, healthy diet information and free snack giveaway. Growing Up in East Northfield with Paul Rikert will be presented Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Trinitarian Congregational Church Parlor, 147 Main St. Rikert will give a glimpse into Northfield’s past, back through the 1930s. Memoir Writing: The Memoir Writing class from the Senior Center at Shelburne will have its coffeehouse Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Buckland-Shelburne Community Center, on the kitchen side. “Indigenous life, loss and renewal at Peskeompskut” will take place Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Greenfield Savings Bank, 282 Avenue A. David Brule will host this Power Point presentation and informal chat. The program is an update of the National Park Service Battlefield archeology study of the 1676 massacre, involving the close collaboration between the four tribes and the five towns. Franklin Area Survival Center: The Food Pantry & Thrift Store hosted by staff and volunteers is at 96 Fourth St., 413-863-9549. The Thrift Store is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Food Pantry is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The center is closed Federal holidays. The Thrift Shop is open to the general public and helps finance its Food Pantry. In an emergency, such as a fire or flood, the center will supply needed clothing and linens, free, and additional food to help the victims of a disaster.
Helpful Programs at LifePath: Any plan of care starts with your needs. LifePath services provide assistance with light homemaking, home-delivered meals, personal care, and adaptive equipment. Caregivers can take a break to de-stress with LifePath’s respite services. In addition, the Consumer Directed Care Program at LifePath allows elders in need to select their own care giver – perhaps a friend, neighbor or even a family member – who can be paid through this program (excludes spouses).
