Hugh Cyhowski went 3-for-4 and earned the win on the mound as Great Falls Middle School beat Pioneer, 3-2, in a baseball game Friday in Turners Falls.
Derek Wissman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the victory. Levin Prondecki and Alex Sulda each pitched well in the win.
Babe Ruth registrations
The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League has added registration periods for the upcoming season.
The registration periods will be held at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield on April 13 and 20 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Coaching clinic at Frontier
A youth baseball coaching clinic hosted by Frontier’s Chris Williams and Pioneer’s Jordan Branson will be held Sunday from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Frontier Regional School gymnasium in South Deerfield.
The cost of the clinic is $10.
Coach Williams will focus on structuring practices to maximize repetitions so kids improve and perform consistently, keeping it fun, and keeping kids accountable.
Coach Branson will focus on evaluation and improvement of individual hitting, pitching, and fielding – finding strengths but also how to help kids improve technique and attitude.

Greenfield Legion tryouts
American Legion Post 81 Baseball, which features both a senior and junior team, registration and tryouts will be conducted at Veterans Memorial Field on the following dates at 1 p.m.: April 27, 28 and May 4, 5, 11.
The Senior team is for players ages 19 and under, while the Junior squad is for 17 and under by Dec. 31, 2019.
Players from all Franklin County schools are eligible to tryout. Players are encouraged to make as many tryouts as possible. Please bring your glove, cleats and birth certificates. Those players from a previous Post 81 roster must attend tryouts to be eligible for the 2019 team.
