WENDELL — The Dollars for Wendell Scholars program has entered its fifth year, giving financial aid to Wendell residents of all ages pursuing any accredited post-secondary education.
The program, funded by donations, began with a fundraising campaign in which mailed donation forms were sent to all Wendell addresses in February.
According to organizer Christine Heard, any Wendell resident pursuing post-secondary education next year — colleges and universities, technical schools — may apply by filling out a short application and essay, available at local high schools and the Wendell Free Library, 7 Wendell Depot Road.
The amount of money aspiring students receive is dependent on how much raised in the fundraising campaign — in the past the program has been able to award four students $1,000 each after raising $4,000.
Donations are tax-deductible and checks may be made out to Dollars for Wendell Scholars, P.O. Box 232, Wendell. Applications should also be sent to the same address by April 15.
