The deadline for applying for Wells Trust health grants is coming up fast.

The application along with two complete copies of all requested material must be postmarked on or before March 20.

Fred W. Wells, who lived in Shelburne Falls and Greenfield at the turn of the last century, was a successful businessman. In his will, he established a fund to award grants in support of health among area residents. The health grants are awarded to local organizations that support that mission.

Successful grant recipients demonstrate they qualify for awards to be used for “the care of the sick or aged by providing home, nurse, medicine or hospital care” and “for helping to provide medical or nurses care in rural districts where no such facilities are to be had.”

Decisions on grants will be made in May and notification will be made to successful applicants.

To request an application, contact: Carol Letson, Wells Trust Health Committee, 29 Allen St., Greenfield, MA 01301  or at 413-774-5038  or online at cletson@crocker.com

Responses must be postmarked by March 25 and should include all materials necessary for review. Electronic applications will not be accepted.
