March/April Classes: There is still room in some of the Y’s March/April classes, sign up today. Classes for children include swimming and gymnastics lessons, basketball skills, Kung Fu, healthy kids baseball skills, Tuesday and Thursday morning preschool, parent/child gym & swim classes. Golf Fitness Training: Shane Foster, golfer and YMCA Exercise Trainer, will be conducting two four-lesson golf preseason fitness classes. Participants will learn balance, stretching, and core stability exercises in order to improve their golf game. Session 1 dates are March 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 1 to 2 pm. Session 2 dates are April 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 6:30-7:30 pm. There will be two additional classes at the Northfield Golf Club. YMCA and Northfield Golf Club Members $40; Non-members $60. Tuesday/Thursday Morning Preschool: The YMCA is accepting six students for a two morning per week preschool experience.  In addition to classroom activities, the students will have a swim lesson on Tuesdays and a gymnastic lesson on Thursdays.  The hours are 8:30-noon.  The fee is $25/day.  Call Lisa at 773-3646 ext. 431 for a tour or more information.

Healthy Breakfast Tips:  On Saturday, March 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. representatives from Just Roots will be presenting an interactive nutrition talk about ‘Tips to Prepare Healthy Breakfasts.” The talk is free and open to the public. After the presentation Y volunteers will be available to check blood pressures for those interested. Information will be available about the Y’s next four month blood pressure monitoring program. Youth Baseball Skills: This new program is for boys and girls ages 8-12 and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 7 p.m. The instructor will work with children at whatever level they are at on catching, throwing and batting.  The program meets in the Y’s basketball gym.  Fees are $30 for Y members and $40 for Program Associates.  Contact Dave at 773-3646 ext. 436 for more information.

Adult Gymnastics Time: The Y’s gymnastics staff have opened up a new time slot for adults ages 15 and over to use the Gymnastics Center. Y staff will be present to help with guided stretching and conditioning plus offer pointers on gymnastics and floor exercises.  The class meets Tuesdays from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Y’s top notch gymnastics center.  The fees for eight classes are $32 for Y members and $40 for non-members.  There is the option of a $10 per class drop-in fee.  For more info contact Caitlyn at 773-3646 ext. 423.

Parent/Child Gym or Swim: The Y offers parent/child or grandparent/grandchild gym or swim classes.  The classes offer great opportunities for 1-3 year olds to develop gross motor skills in the gymnastics center or 1-5 year olds in the pool.  The classes are also an opportunity for parents/grandparents to meet new Y friends.  Parent/child gym class options are Wednesdays 11 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesdays 1 to 1:45 p.m. and Fridays 6 to 6:30 p.m. Water Discovery class options are Thursdays from 11 to 11:30 a.m., Fridays 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. and Saturdays 12 to 12:30 p.m. The fees for eight classes are $44 for Y members and $64 for Program Associates.
