DANVERS — Chris Waslaske’s historic run came to a halt at the All-State wrestling tournament on Saturday.

Hampered by an ankle injury suffered in a 5-0 semifinal decision loss to Agawam’s Dom Ledoux, the Athol High School senior had to forfeit his final match leading to a sixth-place finish at 182 pounds.

“I got a few good shots but I wasn’t able to finish” Waslaske said. “The last 30 seconds, I tried going after him (Ledoux) but couldn’t get him. But I hurt my ankle pretty bad so I don’t know what’s going to happen this week.”

Waslaske qualified for New Englands with the finish.

“It was a tight match,” Athol coach Brandon Jeffrey said. “He wrestled reasonably well, but (Ledoux) was a big, strong kid and really long.”

A lot of nagging injuries might have caught up to Waslaske.

“Little things during the season started to add up,” Jeffrey said. “Hurting his knee at practice, getting the flu, hurting his ankle and getting a concussion.”

Waslaske suffered a concussion wrestling Mahar’s Peter Tattan during the regular season and missed a week’s worth of practice.

New England’s take place on Friday and Saturday in Providence, R.I. Waslaske will go to the doctor on Monday to have an X-ray.

“If it’s bruised, I will wrestle, but if anthing is broken it looks like I am done,” Waslaske said.

After the match against Ledoux, Waslaske faced Spencer Fetrow from Holliston High School for a chance to wrestle for third place.

Waslaske lost to Fetrow by decision, 5-2.

Waslaske wrestled and beat Fetrow in the state Division 3 tournament finals two weeks ago.

On Friday in the round of 16, Waslaske advanced with the help of a medical forfeit from Paul Curran from Boston Latin.

He then defeated Lewy Baez from Central Catholic in a 5-2 decision in the quarterfinals.

Mahar’s Peter Tattan got two wins at All-States, one in the round of 32 then another in the consolation bracket of the 170-pound weight class.

“It was really different here,” Tattan said. “I saw new styles of wrestling I had never seen before. It was a great learning experience for next year.”

Tattan beat Alstair Poole (5-0) from Newton by decision and Mark Thomas from Tyngsborough by fall in 1:05.

“I came out with a lot of energy,” Tattan said. “If I had loss that match there is no consolation bracket.”

Jonathan Mahony also got two wins for the Senators.

Mahony won in the round of 32 against Marlborough’s Caio Siqueira by fall at 2:53.

Mahony then won an 11-5 decision over Georgetown’s Tre Aulson in the consolation bracket

Both Mahony and Tattan were 2-2.

Frontier’s Nate Austin could not pick up a win for the Red Hawks, losing two straight.
