Mohawk Trail Regional High School distance runner Meghan Davis wrapped up the indoor track season with a ninth place finish at the All-State meet Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
Davis finished the race in 11 minutes, 9.40 seconds.
Pioneer long-jumper Scott McDonough was also on hand and finished 12th in the event at 20 feet, 2¾ inches.
Greenfield 7/8 beats Pioneer
Maverick Ward scored 12 points on Sunday morning to lead Greenfield past Pioneer, 63-23, in a grades 7 & 8 Suburban League boys basketball game in Northfield.
Amber Bergeron finished with 10 points in the win, and Khalil Brown added 9.
Josh Wood led Pioneer with 10 points, and Sam Glazier chipped in 6.
Pioneer 5/6 tops Greenfield
Kurt Redeker scored 17 points on Sunday as Pioneer topped Greenfield, 59-22, in a grades 5 & 6 SL boys’ basketball game.
Pioneer won the Suburban League Green Division at 16-0 on the season.
Brayden Thayer netted 12 points in the win, and Gavin Gammell tossed in 11 points.
Caleb Thomas paced Greenfield with 8 points.
NMH hoop wins title
NMH defeated Hoosac, 88-66, in the final regular season boys basketball game for both teams, Saturday in Gill.
NMH wrapped up the regular season 30-5, its third straight year of at least 30 wins. The Hoggers won the NEPSAC AAA championship and will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. NMH will play in the semifinals on Saturday at a site and time to be determined.
Deerfield results
Sasha Shogren scored with six minutes to play in the third period on an assist from Alex Robert as Deerfield Academy tied Westminster School, 2-2, in a boys prep hockey game Saturday in Simsbury, Conn.
Mike Holland also scored for the Big Green on an assist from Connor Guest. Thomas Gale stopped 45 shots in the Deerfield net.
Deerfield finished the regular season 14-8-3 and awaits to find out if it earned a bid in the postseason tournament.
On the girls’ side, Mary Edmonds scored in the final seconds of overtime to lift Deerfield past Loomis Chaffee, 3-2.
The Deerfield boys and girls basketball teams each suffered losses over the weekend.
The Big Green girls fell to Choate Rosemary Hall, 66-52, while the boys fell to Choate, 58-49.
