ERVING — An accident that sent a mail truck into the Millers River off Route 2 is still under investigation.

The Post Service driver was not hurt and no mail was damaged Sunday, said Maureen Marion, the U.S. Postal Service’s Manager of Corporate Communications for New England and New York state.

The name of the driver has not been released by police or the Postal Service. State Police and the Postal Service are both conducting investigations.

The driver was westbound on Route 2 when the truck merged into the soft shoulder, Erving Police Chief Chris Blair said. When the driver tried to correct the truck, it turned sideways, rolled over and landed in the river right-side-up.

A cause of the accident has not been determined.
