Now that the state and internal investigations into Fisher Hill Elementary School in Orange have concluded, I feel increasingly disturbed about the aggressive behavior exhibited by some kindergarten and first-grade students there.
What disturbs me the most is that although the adults working at the school have been cleared of all charges of abuse and neglect, no one has satisfactorily explained why these young children have been behaving in such a raging manner. I wonder what has been going on in these children’s lives that has made them want to throw chairs and physically and verbally attack their teachers and classmates.
Such exhibitions of rage are, to my mind, a red flag that these youngsters may have witnessed or been subjected to abuse or neglect. I think that further investigation — and certainly psychological counseling — would be warranted for these hurting, raging children.

Ice skating season is here! Trusty drill in hand, I’ve found that several local outdoor ice skating venues have a good 3 inches of ice waiting to support outdoor skating enthusiasts.
In April 2 of 2018, the Recorder ran a story about Highland Pond being too shallow for forming ice thick enough for recreation. At this writing, there is a solid 3 inches of evidence to the contrary.
