In Joshua Solomon’s excellent article covering the City Council meeting recently about the proposed new library, he accurately stated that when the bonding does come on the books, the cost to the typical family would be $71 per year for the library.
This does not mean your taxes will go up $71 per year. As we heard at the meeting, the councilors have been given a chart from the finance director showing that when the bond will be taken, that enough current debt will be retired at the same time that it is unlikely that taxes will go up because of the library.
