NORTHFIELD — Neighbors at Home, a cooperative organization for local seniors, likely will launch in the first half of 2019, organizer Bill McGee said.
Next will be a meeting for residents interested in membership, likely around late January or early February, he said, and membership fees will be about $100 a year.
Members will have access to services that are broadly meant to help seniors live in their own homes, rather than in assisted living. Most of that is in household assistance, like changing a light bulb or using computers. The co-op cannot provide services that require a contractor, but will give referrals. Local transportation will be another major service.
The co-op will also organize social events for members, which will be coordinated with the Northfield Senior Center’s programming so it doesn’t overlap.
For now, Neighbors at Home is seeking volunteers and donations for startup costs.
