GREENFIELD — The annual service of remembrance for those who have died on the streets or without a home or loving community will take place Wednesday on the Greenfield Common.

The service is sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Franklin County. All are invited, and a meal will be offered at Second Congregational Church following the service at 4 p.m.

As attention was drawn to the plight of homeless people in Franklin County this fall with the many tents springing up on the Common and city officials deliberating over options for sheltering, an ad hoc housing committee sponsored by the Interfaith Council has been convening to explore solutions.

Those homeless people who lived on the common this summer were moved off this fall but the problem of homelessness remains.

Those who would like to help with the memorial service, those who know the names of those who have died or those who are interested in serving on the Interfaith housing committee are asked to contact the Interfaith Council at interfaithcfc@gmail.com.
