GREENFIELD — Greenfield Winter Farmers Market has begun. It will be held several Saturdays between now and March at Four Corners School on Ferrante Avenue.
The market is held twice monthly — the first and third Saturdays of each month — for the remainder of 2018, and once per month — first Saturdays only — January through March.
The Greenfield Winter Farmers Market was started in 2008 and was the first winter farmers
market in the state. While it may be cold and frosty outside already, local farmers have been working hard for months to ensure that we have locally raised meat, vegetables and other agricultural products available year ’round, said organizers.
With root cellars, cold storage, freezers and winter greenhouses full, farmers are ready for the Greenfield Winter Farmers Market, a destination for good-quality local food all winter long.
Local farmers and artisans congregate at the Four Corners School with the best of this season’s offerings. Farmers will be selling a wide variety of vegetables, along with beef, pork, lamb, eggs, maple syrup, jam, hops, pickles, popcorn, spice blends and more. A variety of local artisans will also be offering fresh bread, body care products, wool, yarn, accessories, fiber arts and other crafts.
The Greenfield Winter Farmers Market accepts debit/credit and EBT/SNAP cards. All of the vegetable farms also participate in the HIP (Healthy Incentives Program) allowing (Massachusetts) SNAP recipients to earn extra SNAP dollars by purchasing fresh vegetables at farmers markets.
Calling all musicians — we would love to more local musicians to the mix. Musicians can contact Market Manager David Paysnick at: greenfieldwintermarket@gmail.com
The Greenfield Winter Farmers Market will be held Nov. 17, Dec. 1 and 15, Jan. 5, Feb. 2 and March 2.
