WENDELL — The Wendell Free Library will host “Re-learning an Ancient Art: Using Animal Tracking to Reconnect with Nature” on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. The program is a talk and slideshow presented by naturalists and animal trackers Nick and Valerie Wisniewski, directors of Walnut Hill Tracking and Nature Center since 2003.
The Wisniewski’s were long-term students and apprentices of master tracker Paul Rezendes, and have been offering nature exploration programs through Walnut Hill for the past 15 years. Walnut Hill programs cover various aspects of nature awareness, including the study of specific species and their habitats.
The Nov. 9 program will focus on animal tracking in an attempt to increase public awareness and appreciation of the diversity of animal life found in our forests. Additional topics will include a multi-year effort investigating sightings of cougars in southern New England, and a multi-year study of black bear communicative marking behaviors.
The program is free and open to the public. The Wendell Free Library is in the center of Wendell at 7 Wendell Depot Road. For more information, call 978-544-3559.
