So Judge Brett Kavanaugh got drunk in high school and made a fool of himself sexually in front of his peers. Call me old fashioned, but isn’t this what adolescents do during the transitional years between childhood and adulthood? I believe social scientists refer to this phenomenon as the Socialization Process. Wouldn’t there be cause for greater concern were we to learn that he didn’t act out during the hormone years? After all, it’s by experiencing this process that we learn boundaries and social appropriateness — empathy and humility. This is the anvil where citizenship is forged.
