Shattuck Brook bridge replacement hearing

BERNARDSTON — There is a hearing tonight (Oct. 18) at 6 p.m. with the state Department of Transportation on a plan to replace the bridge on Brattleboro Road over Shattuck Brook.

The new bridge will be 44.5 feet, compared to the existing 38.5-foot bridge. It will be in approximately the same footprint as the existing bridge.

During construction one lane of the bridge will be open and alternating one-way traffic will be directed with temporary traffic lights.

Views or opinions expressed at the hearing will be taken into account by the Department of Transportation.

Movie night

 

LEYDEN — “Won’t You By My Neighbor?” a movie about the life of Mr. Rogers, will be shown at Leyden Town Hall Friday at 7 p.m. The show is sponsored by the Leyden Council on Aging. All ages are welcome and popcorn will be served.

MGM Springfield casino trip

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Senior Center is organizing a bus trip to the MGM casino in Springfield on Oct. 30. Everyone regardless of age is welcome. The bus leaves from Northfield Town Hall at 12:30 p.m. and will return around 6 p.m. The trip costs $45, which includes $10 for slots. Participants must be registered by Oct. 23. Chicago Moody Church pastor in Northfield

NORTHFIELD — Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, pastor emeritus at the Moody Church in Chicago, will be in Northfield on Saturday. Lutzer will speak at the Community Bible Church at 10:30 a.m., then at the Northfield Baptist Church at 6 p.m. He will be accompanied at both locations by a backing band. Lutzer has been the senior pastor of the Moody Church for 36 years. He leads weekly services there, and also hosts a daily podcast. He has written more than 50 books.
