SHELBURNE FALLS – If a fairy tale princess can spin straw into gold and Cinderella’s fairy godmother can turn rags into a ballgown, what can we mortals make with plain old discards?
The Art Garden is looking for the things people make from re-used plastics, paper and other throw-away objects for a community art exhibit called “Talkin’ Trash.”
Children regularly transform trash into creative playthings or art objects. Re-purposing, re-cycling and re-using materials that would normally end up being discarded is something The Art Garden is committed to.
Submissions are limited to one per person, and the deadline to submit it is Nov. 3. An opening reception takes place Nov. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., with performances at 7 p.m. at the Art Garden, 14 Depot St., Shelburne Falls.
The exhibit will be on view through Dec. 8, when The Art Garden is open: Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. Participation is free and open to all ages. Size restrictions apply, so call 413-625-2782 for details if your work is very large.
