Voters may early vote in the town clerk’s office, 14 Court Square, Room 104, between Monday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Nov. 2, from 8:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon to accommodate voters choosing to early vote.

About early voting

Voters can vote prior to a scheduled biennial state election. This can be done by mail or in person, and the ballot will be cast on election day. The last day and hour to submit an application for a mailed early voting ballot is Friday, Nov. 2, before noon. The last day and hour to deliver a voted ballot is by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 6.

Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 22, and runs through Friday, Nov. 2. Voting will also happen at the Greenfield town clerk’s office on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Anyone can vote early, and no reason is required. The deadline to register to vote and/or change party enrollment is Wednesday, Oct. 17, by 8 p.m.

Voters will not automatically receive an early voting ballot if they’ve voted early before. Voters must request an early voting ballot for every state election. Family and friends are not eligible to request early voting ballots on behalf of voters.

If you request an early voting ballot but do not receive it, call the town clerk’s office as soon as possible. Early voting ballots will not be mailed until Oct. 22. If you ask for an early voting ballot, you will not be eligible to vote at the polls during this year’s election.

Absentee ballots

Absentee ballots are available for the State Election Nov. 6. The last day to apply for an absentee ballot for the election is Friday, Nov. 5, at noon. Voters can vote at the town clerk’s office until that date and time, or may request an absentee ballot by mail. Requests for absentee ballots should be submitted well in advance of the election. Absentee ballots are available to voters who are absent from the City of Greenfield during normal polling hours; have a physical disability preventing them from going to the polling place; or have religious beliefs that prevent them from voting on election day.
