The Deerfield Street Initiative, a partnership between the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the City of Greenfield, is looking for ideas from residents on how they would like to see the Deerfield Street area developed, especially when it comes to new housing.
The public workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 114 Main St.
Through the collaboration, graduate students from the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at UMass work with the city to produce a planning study. The workshop will explore opportunities for affordable housing, sustainable development and a compact and walkable Greenfield center.
Residents of Deerfield Street are particularly encouraged to attend the meeting, but everyone is welcome. The evening is expected to be a conversation among neighbors.
The Deerfield Street Initiative will provide the city with a vision proposal for the area based on public input and the planning study.
