ORANGE — This 115-year-old Catholic parish will throw its 96th annual fair Oct. 6.
The St. Mary’s Parish Fair will be held at the corner of Cheney Street and West Myrtle streets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is organized by the parish’s women’s club.
“The fair will have something for everyone,” said Maureen Riendeau in a statement. “The beef stew dinner, with homemade pie, is a long-time tradition and will begin at 11.”
Sandwiches, coffee, pastries and pie will be available in the morning, and — in addition to the food — handmade crafts and gift items, including puzzles, books, CDs, holiday-themed items and potted plants will be sold at “bargain-basement prices,” Riendeau said.
A mainstay of the festival, Riendeau said, is the annual “Center Table Raffle,” which offers prizes for men, women and children.
Themed raffles will also be held, including a scratch ticket raffle with prizes of $50 to $100 worth of scratch tickets to $100 in cash; a restaurant raffle with gift certificates to local eateries; a raffle with children’s items only and a basket raffle with sports-themed baskets and an Italian dinner basket.
All the raffle ticket drawings will be done at 2 p.m. at the conclusion of the fair. Winners of cash, scratch tickets and prizes will receive a phone call if they are not present for the drawings, and all prizes should be picked up Saturday evening or Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Parish Center at the corner of West Myrtle and Cheney Streets.
