SHELBURNE FALLS — Boswell’s Books will host several local and almost local writers this fall to talk about their latest works, in fiction and non-fiction.

The first book talk is Thursday, Sept. 20, when mystery writer Emily Arsenault of Shelburne Falls will read from, and discuss, “The Last Thing I Told You,” a shape-shifting psychological mystery in which a psychotherapist is found dead, and his troubled, former patient appears to be the main suspect.

Arsenault has written seven novels. The most recent are “The Leaf Reader,” “The Evening Spider,” and “Miss Me When I’m Gone.”

That same night, Daniel Hales of Greenfield will speak about his book, “Run Story.” The book is about the students who attend a school for at-risk, troubled youth. Hyped up, confused, angry, and afraid, their stories — told in a collection of diary entries, staff notes, and “run stories” — invite the readers into the troubled minds of children who have been left behind.

The readings and book talk begins at 6:30 p.m.

Vermont author Archer Mayor will talk about his latest Joe Gunther book, “Bury the Lead,” on Oct. 13 at the Shelburne Senior Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

And Allen Young’s memoir, “Left, Gay & Green: A Writer’s Life” will be the subject of discussion at Boswell’s on Oct. 25, also at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Boswell’s at 625-9362.
