HEATH — At a special town meeting tonight at 7 p.m., voters will decide whether to hire a professional appraiser to review reduced utility property valuations that have been submitted by National Grid. The meeting takes place in the Heath Community Hall.
Voters will be asked to transfer $7,500 from the Assessors Stabilization Account to hire Muddy River Advisors LLC to appraise Heath’s utilities for the current fiscal year. If town meeting approves this cost, the company will do an independent assessment.
Town officials say the proposed reduction in assessment on the power line utilities could have a significant impact on Heath’s tax rate.
Other articles on the warrant seek money transfers to pay past fiscal-year bills and to straighten out bookkeeping. They are:
$619 to pay for a Highway Department equipment bill for the fiscal year that ended in June.
$2,465 to pay for hired services last winter.
$2,500 transfer from “free cash” reserves into the Legal Fees Account.
To rescind borrowing authority for $17,467, which occurred during the May 2017 Annual Town Meeting to pay for a highway truck.
To renumber a few paragraphs in the town’s Zoning Bylaw and to make non-substantive clerical revisions to the zoning bylaws.
